The Las Vegas Country Club

In the 1950’s a thoroughbred racetrack named the Las Vegas Downs occupied the piece of property where The Las Vegas Country Club is now situated. The only access to the race track was a gravel road that ran from Paradise Road to the racetrack. The property was purchased by an investor by the name of Joe W. Brown when the racetrack when into bankruptcy.

A man by the name of Marvin Kratter of Nevada Equities bought it from Brown a few years later and built the country club. The golf course was finished in the fall of 1967, and the clubhouse was finished in April of 1968. Mr. Kratter named it The Las Vegas International Country Club and it was operated under that name until it was sold to The Bonanza, a Strip hotel. The name of the country club then changed to The Bonanza Country Club and Corral. In 1970, four partners of Real Holdings (Moe Dalitz, Harry Lahr, Nate Adelson, and Irwin Molasky) purchased the club and renamed it The Las Vegas Country Club. In July of 1971, they made it a private club.

The Las Vegas Country Club still remains a very prestigious guard gated community.
